<p>Karen A. Smartt, MSM, has been named director of the Office of Medical School Admissions at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She succeeds Robert Maxwell Stump Jr., J.D., who retired after 35 years at IU.</p>

Smartt Named Director of Medical School Admissions at Indiana University

An Indiana University alumna, Smartt received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology there before continuing her education at Indiana Wesleyan University where she received a master of science in management and is completing her doctorate in organizational leadership.

She has been employed as the associate director of admissions at the IU School of Medicine since 1999. Previously, Smartt was an assistant director of admissions at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and an admissions counselor at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in West Terre Haute, Ind.
