Holly Crandall does an excellent job of maintaining organized and complete records in her role as a Project Management Specialist for the Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology.
When an auditor came to campus late last year for a routine audit of one of the division’s studies, the research team passed with flying colors thanks to the hard work of Crandall and other members of the team. Passing the audit was impressive because the study in question is complex, requiring participants has signed multiple versions of documents, said Regina Weber, the Regulatory Coordinator for Gastroenterology/Hepatology.
But Crandall helps to keep everything in line.
A Q&A with Holly Crandall, Project Management Specialist
How long have you been in your current role? How long have you been at IU?
I have been in this role for about a year and with the Division of Hepatology for the last five years. Before joining the research group, I worked as a clinical nurse for many of the same physicians I work with now, so I've been with the group for about 10 years.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy that every day is different. I get bored easily and I like the variety of work that I get to do in my role. I learn something new with every new project and that is what keeps me here.
Please share a bit about the people at work who inspire, challenge and motivate you.
My coworkers in this Division are absolutely my family. They are smart, funny, caring and slightly dysfunctional! Over the last 10 years, they have supported me through some of my most challenging times and lifted me up in celebration through the best ones.
Last year one of my colleagues and I presented a poster on our work with community outreach at the SOCRA conference in Montreal. The experience of attending the conference and presenting was felt like a win anyway, but we were selected for that year's award, which was a huge honor and very exciting.
How do you like to spend your time when you're not at work?
When I'm not working, I love to travel. I am never happier than when I have a trip to look forward to. Last summer we took our children to meet my family in London for the first time (I'm originally from England but have lived in America since I was 13) and seeing the experience through their eyes was something I will never forget.
