Dr. Lana Dbeibo Takes on New Leadership Role in the Chair's Office

Lana Dbeibo
The Department of Medicine is delighted to announce that Lana Dbeibo, MD, has been selected to serve as Interim Associate Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs - Quality, Safety, and Population Health. Her appointment is effective October 3, 2022.

Dbeibo is an assistant professor of clinical medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, and also serves as director of infection prevention at IU Health Methodist Hospital.

In her new role, Dbeibo will contribute to departmental efforts to continuously improve quality, safety and population health for all patients served by IUH and IUHP hospitals and providers. Along with collaborating in determining the department’s strategic direction, the scope of this role includes overseeing and leading the implementation of department-wide programs aimed at measuring and improving quality, safety, and population health metrics.

Department chair David Aronoff, MD, described Dbeibo as “highly collaborative” and excellent at bringing teams together to accomplish shared goals. He cited her strong leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which helped IU Health, the Indiana Hospital Association, and Indiana University navigate uncertain and highly-stressful times for our learners, staff, faculty, patients, and their families.

Additionally, “her expertise was crucial for the NCAA as they planned the basketball tournament in Indianapolis in 2021,” Aronoff said. “I am excited she’s stepping into this role.”

Dbeibo, who was recognized as one of Indiana Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” earlier this year, said she was “thrilled” for the opportunity to help to ensure the delivery of the highest standards of care to patients and the community.

“I look forward to building on the existing progress achieved so far, and to collaborating with other quality improvement champions across our organization,” she said.
