More than 40 internal medicine residents from Indiana University School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine have successfully matched into fellowship programs. These doctors will continue their medical education in a dozen different subspecialty areas, at institutions across the country. Fifteen will remain in Indiana, having matched into IU School of Medicine or Indiana-based programs.
The Department of Medicine has outstanding residency programs across in three cities around Indiana: the Internal Medicine Residency Program as well as the combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program in Indianapolis; the Internal Medicine Residency at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie; and the Southwest Indiana Internal Medicine Residency Program in Evansville.
Residency training within the department encompasses every aspect of internal medicine and offers various tracks to best suit the trainee’s needs. The department is nationally and internationally renowned for its contributions to medicine. Within this rich clinical environment, our Internal Medicine residency programs offer considerable flexibility and choice in training to help each individual achieve specific career goals. Trainees interested in becoming physician scientists can apply for the board-approved research pathway.
