Team member spotlight - Alisa Gumm

What is your position and how long have you been with IU?
Clinical ResearchNurse/Study Coordinator for 4 years. Previously a night floor nurse at University Hospital for 3 years and worked out patient Urology at University for 2 years.

What is your favorite part of your position?
Getting to know my patients andtheir families on a deeper and more meaningful level compared to floor nursing.

Fun fact about you?
I love punk rock music and going to concerts. I have been onstage with my favorite band 3 times (Dropkick Murphys).

What is your favorite thing to do in the weekends?
Check out local breweries with my friends. Especially the ones that allow dogs, so I can bring my Shih Tzu Chewie.

What is the best career advice you have ever received?
“Venture out of your comfort zone.” That’s how I ended up in research and I love it!

Favorite Department of Pathology memory?
Well, I work with Dr. Merrill Bensonwho is quite a character and makes every day memorable!
