Class of 2020,

Here’s a guide to help you successfully complete Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS exams, a vital Phase 3 milestone and graduation requirement. We hope this guide will make preparing for the exams easier.

Where do I start?

  • Contact your lead advisor to develop an individualized test plan.
  • This guide is a great resource but we want you to have the best testing experience possible. Your lead advisor can help you develop a plan that works best for you.

When should I schedule my Step 2 exams?

  • Exam slots fill up quickly, especially for the CS exam, so we recommend scheduling as soon as possible but no later than April 1, 2019.
  • We want you to have the best options for location and scheduling of your exams.
  • You can track the testing availability here.  The earlier you schedule, the more options you’ll have for dates and locations.
  • When registering, choose “015010 – Indiana University School of Medicine”.

When should I take my Step 2 exams?

  • We recommend taking your exam in time to have your scores available to include in your ERAS application. This means you will need to take Step 2 CK by mid-August and Step 2 CS by July 13, 2019.
  • The deadline for taking both exams is November 1, 2019.  This ensures that your scores are available in time for rank lists. Step 2 scores are typically required for most residency rank lists.
  • This deadline also gives you time retake the exam if necessary and still graduate on time.
  • We will be reaching out to you if you are not scheduled to take your exams by the November 1, 2019 Deadline.
