MS1 & MS2s: Apply by May 15 for the Hester Scholarship

First- and second-year students: Apply by May 15 for the Merilyn Hester Scholarship and the chance to get up to $7,000 toward tuition relief.
 
The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center scholarship was created to assist medical and PhD students pursuing degrees in biomedical sciences. Eligible applicants must demonstrate both an interest in, and potential for, conducting pediatric hematology or pediatric oncology research. Additionally, they must not have received any other scholarships or grants for the upcoming academic year.

Successful applicants are students who have a strong academic record, outstanding character, and well-defined professional goals. This award will be distributed starting July 1, as follows:
  • MD students: up to $7,000 which must be applied toward tuition.
  • All PhD students or MD/PhD students: up to $5,000 disbursed to the recipient as a one-time pay increase in the stipend and $2,000 disbursed to the research lab to be used as:
    • $1,000 for travel to attend scientific meetings   
    • $1,000 for supplies to offset lab expenses.

At the end of the year, awardee(s) will be asked to submit a one-page summary documenting what the funding has meant to them, and signed by their mentor.
