Get ready to impress at your residency interviews – you've already made the first cut, now it's time to shine!

Match on My Mind: Learn more about interviewing with residencies

Interviews are well underway in many specialties and many common release dates are coming up! When you get invited for an interview, it is because they want to meet you! You are qualified. Do not feel like you must prove your qualifications again.

You made the first cut and the playing field is once again pretty even. Remember it is the interview that gets you ranked! Be sure to prepare for your interviews. IUSM Big Interview Medical is a great tool to help you prepare!

The interview is a two-way street. You are interviewing the program just like they are interviewing you! Do you have a way to evaluate and track the programs that will be useful to you later regarding ranking programs? Check out the AAMC Program Evaluation Guide as one example.

Be sure also to record your overall gestalt and trust this gut reaction. Keeping a rudimentary rank list can also be very helpful and will make constructing your final rank list a bit easier!

Please check the box in your ERAS application to share your interview invites with the Medical Student Affairs office. Be sure to keep your lead advisor updated about your interview invites too! Let your lead advisor, Dr. Rusk, or Dr. Shanks know if you have any questions or concerns.
