First Years: Apply by Jan. 20 to UNC aging research program

The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Medical Students Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) program offers medical students the chance to engage in valuable geriatric research while being mentored by leading experts.

This opportunity is for first-year medical students. Applications are due Jan. 20, 2025.

Funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), the program provides unique research and academic experiences not typically available during medical school. UNC-Chapel Hill is one of eight National Training Centers for MSTAR.

The program has a positive impact, inspiring many participants to pursue academic careers in aging, contributing to the growing number of physicians and scientists specializing in this field. This is crucial as our population ages and the demand for expertise in geriatrics increases.
