42 Ways to Advance Racial Equity in Academic Medicine
Dr. Sylk Sotto is the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs, Development, and Diversity in the Department of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. Her scholarship and research centers on (in)equity in academic medicine and she is affiliated with the Indiana CTSI - Bioethics and Subject Advocacy Program (BSAP) and the IU Center for Bioethics.
In this blog titled 42 Ways to Advance Racial Equity in Academic Medicine, Dr. Sotto and her co-authors argue, “The progress in equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice (EDIJ) within our campus environments has been hard to celebrate while we continue witnessing an overt display of systemic racism and structural violence.” They then suggest 42 ways members of the academic community can act to combat against racism and discrimination.
