The Education Track PhD Program at Indiana University School of Medicine trains doctoral-level anatomy educators to teach all of the anatomical disciplines and physiology to undergraduate, graduate or medical students and to produce high-quality educational research (rather than laboratory-based research).
There is a growing recognition that medical education should be evaluated with the same rigor as medical science in order to train high-caliber physicians. Few basic science faculty members are qualified to conduct the necessary research. This Education Track is unique in that it prepares students to become medical education researchers as well as anatomy and physiology teachers. This program exemplifies a highly successful collaboration between the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Indiana University School of Education.
