I am the Director at the Ruth Lilly Medical Library. My job is to secure the resources our folks need to do their jobs in support of the Indiana University School of Medicine. I am privileged to work with an amazing team!
How long have you been working at the library?
I have been here at the medical library since January 2014. My first duty as director was close the library due to the record-breaking snow and dangerously sub-zero freezing temperatures. For reference, see https://www.weather.gov/ind/jan52014snowandcold
What do you like most about your job or the library?
I love the people! I really enjoy the people I work with, and I enjoy connecting with new people excited about using the best available evidence to solve problems. The problems can be patient, research, or education related. This is the reason I am in the library profession!
What is your favorite food/ favorite place to eat?
Since 8th Day Distillery doesn’t count as a food or place to eat, I’m going to say Mexican food. I like cooking at home but it’s also nice to eat out too! Some Mexican restaurants I frequent are La Margarita and La Parada.
Where is your favorite place to travel?
I have only been to Europe once and that was more than 20 years ago. I don’t know if it is my “favorite” but it is on my list to travel somewhere in Europe again! I have been to the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, and Italy. These countries have a rich history and amazing art. I would love the opportunity to explore them and other places again.
If you could witness any historical event, what would it be and why?
Hmmm… the 1963 March on Washington. I would have loved to be present the day Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered this iconic 'I Have a Dream' speech.
What is one item on your bucket list?
I would like to visit Middle Earth… or New Zealand. Whichever is easiest.
