Distilling Your Message: Communicating Scientific Research to All

The following is an event sponsored by the IUSM Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development

Morning Plenary: Distilling Your Message

Friday, May 02, 8:00 – 9:30 AM | Emerson Hall Auditorium, Room 304

Award-winning actor Alan Alda once said, ‘Communication is not something you add on to science, it is the essence of science.’

In this interactive lecture, faculty members from the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University will provide the tools necessary to translate your scientific research for any audience.

Participants will practice finding common ground with an audience, speaking at different levels of complexity for different audiences, and answering questions about their work.

Register for the event here.  If you’d like to attend a small group session as well, please follow the instructions below.

Small Group Sessions

Friday, May 02, 12:30 – 2:30 PM | Daly Center 174 & 175
