Join a unique longitudinal service-learning elective to address healthcare gaps in Indiana, follow patients over time, and see the real-world impact of your interventions on health outcomes.

MS4s:Address healthcare gaps in a new service learning project

We are excited to offer you a unique opportunity to develop a longitudinal service-learning project. This project will focus on addressing healthcare gaps for patients living in Indiana. Through this experience, you will have the chance to participate in the longitudinal care of a patient or patients and observe and reflect upon the impact of your interventions on health outcomes.

This elective is different from traditional block rotations because you will have the opportunity to follow the same patient(s) over time and witness firsthand the impacts of your project on health outcomes. Our goal is to enhance your awareness of the issues faced by patients and promote future participation in volunteerism, physician advocacy, and leadership.

We want you to develop a specific healthcare goal, such as reducing maternal mortality, decreasing obesity rates, increasing vaccination rates, or decreasing unintended pregnancy rates, to address the healthcare need of your choosing.
