Paul Lysaker, PhD, a Department of Psychiatry faculty member for more than 25 years, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Dr. Lysaker was a thoughtful clinician, passionate teacher, beloved mentor, prolific researcher and genuinely compassionate human being. His groundbreaking work on developing and disseminating metacognitive psychotherapy for individuals with psychosis will live on, not only in the hearts of the patients he treated, but also through the contemporaries who will carry on his work and legacy. Stephen Wolverton, MD, Theodore Arlook Professor of Dermatology, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Dr. Wolverton held deep ties to Indiana, having both trained and served as faculty with the Department of Dermatology at IU School of Medicine for more than 30 years. His professional contributions were immense, though he is best known for his groundbreaking work in systemic drug use in dermatology as showcased in his book, “Comprehensive Dermatologic Drug Therapy”—a staple for all trainees in the field. His passion for teaching was evident in his numerous talks, presentations and publications, as well as the genuine care he displayed while mentoring countless individuals.
