Tamika Dawson-Knox, MD, assistant professor of clinical family medicine, is the new director of the Master of Science in Medical Science (MSMS) program at IU School of Medicine.
Most recently, Dawson-Knox served as the statewide course director of the Foundations of Clinical Practice 2. She has held this position since 2016 when IU School of Medicine launched its updated curriculum. Dawson-Knox also assists with the Health Systems Sciences 2 course for students in the second year of medical school.
A 1999 graduate of Spelman College, Dawson-Knox received her medical degree from IU School of Medicine in 2004. Prior to pursuing her medical degree, she participated in IU School of Medicine’s MSMS program, matriculating into medical school after the first year.
A member of the Department of Family Medicine, Dawson-Knox will continue her clinical practice at Indiana University Health while serving as MSMS program director.
The MSMS program is a two-year program designed to enhance the preparation and confidence of students to be successful in a medical curriculum. This unique opportunity allows students to work at the graduate level to gain experience in didactic instruction, problem-based learning and research. A Master of Science degree is earned upon successful completion of the program.
