IU School of Medicine–Northwest-Gary, along with the other IU School of Medicine statewide campuses, provides third- and fourth-year clinical training through affiliations with local physicians, ambulatory care facilities, and training hospitals in a distinctly urban setting. Third- and fourth-year required clerkships and electives are offered at a variety of clinical facilities in northwest Indiana.
With the continuous addition of clinical faculty and teaching partner institutions across the northwest region of Indiana, the clerkship program at the Gary campus is growing rapidly. Medical students at this campus enjoy the unique benefits of one-on-one mentoring and hands-on opportunities available under the guidance of experienced local physicians.
Community physicians serve as clerkship faculty in these and other clinical areas:
- Emergency Medicine
- Family Medicine
- Internal Medicine
