Medical students at the IU School of Medicine—Northwest-Gary campus have privileges to all student services provided locally by Indiana University Northwest and can access a range of centralized support services from IU School of Medicine, including financial services and student learning environment, mistreatment reporting and conflict resolution support. Plus, with small class sizes and accessible faculty, students at this campus can easily access personalized support needed to ensure success in medical school.

At the IU School of Medicine—Northwest-Gary campus, Community HealthNet has been identified as a preferred provider for our student community. Dr. Ugochi Okoro is a family medicine physician practicing at their location on Martin Luther King Drive, just a mile from the IU School of Medicine—Northwest-Gary campus.
Medical students can access vaccines, primary care, preventative services and women's health services at the Community HealthNet's Martin Luther King location located at 3503 Martin Luther King, Gary, IN 46409. The office phone number is (219) 880-1190. The office is open from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Other diagnostic or therapeutic health services not available at the location can be access by referral.

At the Northwest-Gary campus all students have access to the Savannah Fitness Center at IU Northwest. In addition, students have the option to sign up for a membership to the YMCA at a discounted rate that will get them into any of five locations in the northwest area.
Wellness Resources
Students at the Northwest-Gary campus can be connected to mental health services through local services in Gary or through access to remote services through IU School of Medicine. IU School of Medicine offers a student lounge where students can take a break from their studies. The lounge contains a ping pong table, board games and puzzles. In addition, the lounge is frequently stocked with snacks and coffee for students by the wellness representatives.

IU School of Medicine—Northwest-Gary enjoys a highly supportive community that has helped raise important scholarship funds. All medical students at the Gary campus are eligible for scholarship consideration, provided that the FAFSA form is submitted to IU School of Medicine. Some awards carry restrictions regarding academic achievement, geographic residence and/or financial need. Even with restrictions, most students are eligible for one or more of the Gary campus scholarships.
