Work and Study Space
With 24-hour access to the Stone Family Center for Health Sciences, the Medical School Library and IU School of Medicine classrooms, medical students in Evansville have plenty of on-campus options for study space. On the fourth floor of the center are multiple private study rooms and open study pods allowing individual study or group study. These rooms are fully equipped with white boards, A/V technology, Wi-Fi access and comfortable furniture. Student classrooms and a large student library are always open allowing for adequate study space for students who prefer to study in an open atmosphere.
IU School of Medicine-Evansville students also have access to several public libraries through the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Libraries with the closest—the Central Library—just one block away from campus.
Materials from the Ruth Lilly Medical Library, located in Indianapolis, can be shipped directly to the Evansville campus, usually within 48 hours. Students can pick up and return materials from the main desk.
Housing and Other Personal Space
Students at the Evansville campus are encouraged to make the campus their home away from home. Students are welcome to bring personal items to the classroom and make their work space their own. While IU School of Medicine-Evansville is not liable for any lost or stolen items, security is taken seriously, and rooms are locked at the end of each day.
All medical students are assigned an individual locker for storage of books, extra clothes and snacks, as well as a mailbox. Students frequently request that packages (such as Amazon deliveries) be delivered to the medical school.
Campus housing is not available for IU School of Medicine-Evansville students. Therefore, off-campus housing is the only option. Affordable rental apartments and houses are available within walking distance to campus and on Evansville’s east, north and west side.
