Let The Journey Begin

So the journey has begun…IUSM Class of 2018! Since graduating undergrad in 2009, the journey to medical school has been quite an adventure. In the last four years I have gone from completing an MPH and MBA at Florida International University, to working as the Vice President of Risk Management at Federally Qualified Health Center in Miami and meeting with President Obama and his cabinet in the White House. This last year alone has been the wildest ride of my life. In the summer of 2013 I found myself jobless, with no money, and facing the burden of applying to medical school as well as studying of the MCAT. Nonetheless, that dream that once began during my junior of college kept me alive. In just one month I went from learning to walk to winning the biggest race of my life thus far. Today, after my first month of medical school I can look back and say that every tear I shed, every hair I lost, and every sacrifice I endured the last for yours has been worth it! As I prepare for our first block of exams as an MS1 at IUSM, I still think this is all a dream! #AspireToInspire
