I am pleased to announce the next application period for available Scholarly Concentrations is now open. Applications will be accepted until 11:59 pm (ET) on October 20, 2019.
As I discussed during the launch event on September 26, Scholarly Concentrations provide meaningful opportunities to enhance the learner experience at IU School of Medicine campuses statewide. Participation in a Scholarly Concentration enhances your professional growth and development and can help you stand out in the competition for residency positions in the not-too-distant future. It is also worth noting, Scholarly Concentrations do not add to the time or expense of completing your MD degree.
If you have not done so already, I encourage you to review available concentrations on MedNet, paying particular attention to the school’s newest concentrations:
- Medical Humanities (available statewide)
- Human Sexuality and Health (Bloomington)
- Biomedical Engineering and Applied Medical Technology (West Lafayette)
As you all have diverse interests and backgrounds, Scholarly Concentrations allow you the opportunity to delve into these interests alongside the core medical school curriculum. My hope is that each of you will consider this opportunity to work with other students and faculty who share your passion for the topic of your choosing.
