With backing from the Class of 2021 Officers, IU School of Medicine’s Step 1 prep program is a statewide student-supported opportunity that prepares students for Step 1 through a combination of supplemental learning activities. The goal of the program is to improve performance on standardized tests by improving critical and analytic skills.

Program Details

  • There is a one-time registration to allow IU School of Medicine to better ensure student success with the program. Register now for the program.
  • Students from all campuses will receive small prizes/swag at each session, but in order to be eligible for a larger prize at the end of the program, students must attend at least six of the seven sessions. Students can attend in person, via Zoom or watch recordings as a group. Please be sure to register to ensure there is enough swag for all attendees.
  • Additional ways to improve your success with the program:
    • Share NBME Practice Exam Scores with your lead advisor, the learning specialist or another IU School of Medicine representative
    • Check in, on occasion, with a tutor, MAP representative or faculty member.

Session 1– September 17 from 12:30 – 2 pm EDT (11:30 am – 1 pm CDT)

    • Identifying priorities
    • Developing strategies for incorporating questions into studying
    • Finding an accountability partner

Session 2– November 5 from 12:30 – 2 pm EDT (11:30 am – 1 pm CST)
