Residency credentialing information for Class of 2024

If you're completing a residency in Indiana, IU School of Medicine's Registrar hand-delivers a letter to the Indiana Licensing Board on your behalf (in place of a transcript or copy of diploma) notifying the board that you have graduated. We will deliver the letters the week after graduation for those who completed all degree requirements.

For anyone with outstanding degree requirements or coursework in May or June, your letter will be delivered when your degree requirements are met. Your residency program will help you with the completion of the rest the process. If you find that you need additional materials—such as a letter for your GME program to begin your residency—please contact us at medcred@iu.edu. Place 2024 Grad in the subject line.

Our office can assist you with:

  • Sending out a transcript
  • Writing a letter
  • Filling out the Registrar/Dean portion of a state licensure form
  • Filling out the Registrar/Dean portion of a GME form

Please note that our office does not have a notary. A notary can be found at your bank, a UPS office, a FedEx store, etc.

If you're completing your residency program in another state, your program will assist with the completion of the process (i.e. tell you what documents are needed and who is to fill them out).

Congratulations and good luck in the next stage of your medical education!
