Welcome to National Hispanic Heritage Month! Beginning September 15th, and celebrating through mid-October, we take time out to acknowledge and honor the cultures and contributions of those from Hispanic and Latino American communities. As DMHS, we also want to highlight mental health. The following is a collection of interviews, resources, and tools (including some fun videos) highlighting a few unique or nuanced mental health topics within communities of Latin American or Hispanic heritage.

Indiana University is also celebrating statewide. Learn about events and access a wide variety of digital tools, including Zoom backgrounds, social profile images, and a Snapchat filter to further support National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Therapy Goes to The Movies!!!
Feeling torn between watching a movie and working on your mental health? The YouTube channel, Cinema Therapy has just what you need!
Enjoy some of your favorite movies while also learning about different mental health topics. The channel covers a wide range of films and mental health topics, including depression, anxiety, healthy vs unhealthy relationships, social anxiety, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism to name a few. The program reviewed the exceptional animated films of Coco and Encanto to take deeper looks at the following topics:

- Scapegoats and Identified Patients within family dynamics (Encanto)
- Generational trauma, grief, and loss (Coco)

For trainees: The Department of Mental Health Services is available to provide mental health and personal counseling services to all students, residents, and fellows. There are a few ways to access services:
- To request an appointment with the Department of Mental Health Services, send a secure message via the online portal or call 317-278-2383 during normal business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
- For urgent matters, call (317)-278-HELP (4357), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A licensed clinical health specialist will provide an assessment and help direct you to appropriate treatment options based on the situation. You may also call on behalf of a trainee if you are a family member, friend, or colleague concerned about their well-being. You may call anonymously if desired.
- TimelyCare is a free resource to all IU students that allows them to have 24/7 on-demand emotional support as well as scheduled telehealth visits (with some after-hours and out-of-state access) through a national vendor. You can engage with a clinician via phone, video, or video chat. Signing up just requires your student email.
