AAMC webinar on away rotations

Away rotations can be a valuable opportunity to get an insider look at a different institution and to allow you to “audition” at a particular program during your two-week to one-month rotation. Not all specialties require away rotations in order to be a competitive applicant, but they can be an advantage if you have your sights set on matching at a particular institution. Speak with your lead advisor and your specialty career mentor, and check out the Specialty Preparation pages on the MD student portal and Canvas Career Mentoring pages to help determine if an away rotation is expected for your specialty and how many away rotations are recommended. Remember that traveling for an away rotation can be expensive, inconvenient, and may not be right for every student.
