Basic Needs for Medical Students Survey

The DEI Coalition and Office of Medical Service Learning want to understand better the impact of basic needs insecurity on IU School of Medicine students.

We know medical students can struggle to financially address their basic needs, including food, housing, transportation, and academic resources. We want to hear from all students.

Since students from low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented communities in medicine are more likely to be impacted by basic needs insecurity, we encourage students from these backgrounds to respond.

Through the survey below, we want to hear about your experiences in medical school with financial management and your ability to pay for your basic needs. All responses will be kept confidential. There are no direct risks or benefits to participating.

Your participation is voluntary, and you can choose to stop participating at any time. Future use of data will include a report to the school administration to discuss how IU School of Medicine can best support students.

If you have questions about the survey, contact Precious Okoruwa or Keyshla Chacon-Nieves.
