Beginning November 1, Bradley Allen, MD, PhD, will serve as the Indiana University School of Medicine’s interim executive associate dean of educational affairs.
Paul Wallach, MD, is joining the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as its vice chancellor and executive vice dean after seven years of dedicated service to the IU School of Medicine. A search for his permanent replacement will begin in the spring.
“I want to thank Dr. Wallach for his tireless efforts in enabling our statewide staff and faculty to push the IU School of Medicine education programs to new heights through innovative changes based on feedback from students and educators,” Allen said. “We plan to continue our statewide efforts and build on the successes of the last few years. I will support a smooth and seamless transition while we focus on preparing our students to be the next generation of efficient and compassionate physician-leaders.”
Emily Walvoord, MD, takes on the role of interim senior associate dean for medical student education in addition to her current capacity as associate dean of student affairs.
“It’s a tremendous privilege to continue working with students directly while taking on responsibility for steering the MSE team,” Walvoord said. “It will be my No. 1 priority to work with the incredibly dedicated faculty and staff to continue a top-notch educational experience for our students. I look forward to this opportunity and building on our amazing foundation.”
Paul Ko, MD, MEd, will continue his previous role as associate dean for curriculum but will assume a new role as senior associate dean for accreditation. With the IU School of Medicine in the midst of its LCME re-accreditation process, Ko will serve as faculty accreditation lead (FAL) to liaison with LCME for the upcoming visit.
“I look forward to assisting the School in continuing the strong work that took place in the accreditation process over the last few years under Dr. Wallach’s leadership,” Ko said. “We’ll continue our work to be fully prepared for the upcoming LCME visit in March 2025 and the accreditation CQI process after that.”
