When I joined the School of Medicine as the inaugural chief information officer early last year, I hit the ground running to identify and assess the complex IT needs of clinicians, researchers, faculty, staff and learners.
One of our first significant milestones was the establishment of the Office of Technology Affairs in April 2019 to meet the school’s robust IT needs and to establish the school as a national leader in the innovative use of information technology. Since our inception, we have been committed to creating an IT environment that empowers Clinicians, Researchers, Faculty, staff and learners and supports IU School of Medicine’s mission to improve health in Indiana and beyond.
With the newly created office, we strategically aligned and deployed a team of more than 130 dedicated IT professionals, and we anticipate even more service quality improvements and expansion this year. Most of the work we have done has been behind the scenes to ensure the school community has the technology resources needed to focus on what matters most – education, research and patient care.
One of the service improvements you may have seen now, or will see in the future, includes 24/7 IT support availability. Later this year, we will launch our new school website platform, expanding the capabilities of our client devices via our new integrated client image and expanding our capabilities in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Cheers to another year of continued collaboration and innovation.
