Scholarly Concentrations Program: Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
The Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Scholarly Concentration provides students with opportunities to explore how evidence-based lifestyle interventions can improve individual and community health. Students learn strategies to help patients adopt healthier behaviors while gaining experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of community-based health initiatives. Through mentored scholarly projects, students collaborate with partners such as community health centers, food pantries, wellness organizations and jail rehabilitation programs focused on addiction recovery. These partnerships allow students to engage in real-world projects that address nutrition, physical activity, chronic disease prevention and other key determinants of health. Students contribute to research assessing the impact of these interventions, preparing them to promote health and prevent disease in diverse patient populations.
