IU School of Medicine-Muncie resides within IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, which helps to bridge the classroom to clinical experience. With 64 residents, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital currently has the largest primary care graduate medical education program in Indiana outside Indianapolis, with residents in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Transitional Year. The full range of medical specialties is covered at this teaching hospital, and its Medical Library is one of the largest community libraries in Indiana. The IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Research Department has one of the largest clinical trial programs outside the academic health center.
Medical students must wear lab coats and IDs at all times in Ball Memorial Hospital. The ID entitles students to a 10% discount in the cafeteria.

Providers at Ball Memorial deliver introductory clinical experiences to first and second year medical students. Additionally, third and fourth year students rotate through several clinical clerkships in Ball Memorial facilities with hospital personnel.
Meridian Health Services
Through Meridian Health, third- and fourth-year medical students are exposed to several clerkship opportunities, including psychiatry, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. First and second years students are offered observership and volunteer experiences, as well.
American Health Network
AHN provides Neurology clinical clerkship rotations for third-year medical students.
Open Door Health Services
Open Door Health provides observership opportunities for our first- and second-year students, as well as volunteer prospects for all medical students.
