The Health Equity in Research Scholars (HERS) program is an eight-month professional development initiative designed for early- to mid-career faculty at the IU School of Medicine. Co-sponsored by the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and IU Health's Chief Health Equity Officer, this program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to address health disparities through research. Scholars will explore the complex relationships between race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and other factors that contribute to health inequities, and will gain competencies in designing impactful research to promote health equity. The program combines online learning with in-person sessions, fostering collaboration and building a cadre of institutional experts in health equity.
