The IU School of Medicine Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers graduate-level education programs leading to Master’s and PhD degrees as well as a PhD minor. All PhD applicants apply to the Indiana Biomedical Gateway Program, as first-year PhD students participate in a shared experience before selecting a specific scientific program.
In addition to a primary course of study, PhD students can pursue additional academic interests through a PhD minor program. Many of the IU School of Medicine minor programs for PhD students align with areas of specialized research, including the Diabetes and Obesity Research Training Program, which is affiliated with the Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases.PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers a PhD graduate research program that provides rigorous theoretical and experimental training for a career in modern biochemistry and molecular biology.
Diabetes Training Program
The Diabetes and Obesity Research Training Program is designed to advance understanding of the basis of diabetes and its complications and thereby speed the discovery of more effective therapies.
MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Participants in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Master’s degree program develop a deep understanding of biochemistry and acquire skills that translate to employment in biomedical sciences, industry or academics.
