Shawn S. Brar, DO
Resident Appointee
Bio
Why I chose Family Medicine: I chose Family Medicine because it is a specialty that allows me to pursue my passions in sports medicine, preventative medicine, and osteopathic manipulative medicine while serving a large demographic of patients. In addition, it allows me the flexibility to help the underserved population in a community setting which is a future goal for my practice. I consider family medicine physicians to be the first line of defense with a wide variety of skills designed to help whomever, whenever they are in need of medical care.
Why I chose the IU Arnett Family Medicine Residency Program: I chose the IU Arnett Family Medicine Residency Program due to its location in the greater West Lafayette area and the ability to pursue the sports medicine curriculum while also practicing community based medicine. Furthermore, during my interview and second look, I got the sense that IU Arnett had a very supportive residency program from the faculty to the senior residents. I got the sense that they have truly fostered a very supportive and positive learning environment which made the decision easy!
Personal interests and hobbies: My personal interests and hobbies include playing basketball, weight lifting, hiking, and eating food (Yes, if you eat enough, it can be a hobby!). My favorite sports teams are the Lakers, Colts, and Butler Bulldogs! My favorite movie genres are comedy and action!
Languages I am fluent in: English and Punjabi!
