Bio

Emma Eckrote, MD is from Macy, Indiana and obtained her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and was a Rural Medicine Education Program graduate. She will graduate from the IU Triple Board Program in June 2027.

Why Triple Board at IU?

While in medical school, I was fortunate to work with many of the Triple Boarders, both current residents and IU TB grads, and I loved working with them. As I met more of the crew, I found that I loved the people within the program. I also wanted to stay in Indiana to practice, and I think there is so much benefit to training within the state. I felt like my goals are so supported by all of the program directors associated with the program. Finally, I love the many opportunities the pediatrics program offers, especially within complex care and working with medically complex children.

Career Interests:

I am interested in practicing combined general pediatrics and child and adolescent psychiatry in the outpatient setting, in rural Indiana. I am specifically interested in providing complete care to children with chronic illness and those who are medically complex.

Outside of work:

I enjoy spending time at home with family and friends, writing letters to friends and strangers, binge listening true crime podcasts, reading and audiobooks, and spending time in the sun. I love checking out new restaurants on Friday evenings with my pals and spending my Saturdays messing with my many house plants. I am a fan of Sunday mornings in a  coffee shop with a good book.
