Why I chose IU Psychiatry Residency: I chose IU for a combination of the people, the atmosphere, the opportunities, and the city (okay—so everything). I knew at IU I would be surrounded by welcoming, caring, intelligent, and overall wonderful people. I found many “small” perks demonstrated how supportive the program was of the residents, like free health insurance for you and your entire family, free parking everywhere, and the ability to piecemeal vacation days. I was really impressed with the variety and quality of both clinical and research experiences. Lastly, Indianapolis is a great place, providing the benefits of a big city (diversity, fun things to do, and great restaurants) while still remaining affordable and accessible.
