Chi Wah “Rudy” Yung, MD, practices comprehensive ophthalmology and sees patients at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Glick Eye Institute.. His practice includes treating patients with diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration and preforming cataract surgeries.
Before he retired as a full Professor of Ophthalmology in September 2020, Yung has served as Ophthalmology Clerkship Director sine 1991. He was also the ophthalmology’s director of medical student education helping lead the department’s efforts in teaching hundreds of learners each year to understand the complexities of the eye. He also has served as the faculty advisor for the Ophthalmology Student Interest Group (OSIG) since its inception in 2007, and has continued to serve in the capacity since his retirement from his academic post. He is the Eye Clinic director and Chief of Ophthalmology Service at the Eskenazi Hospital.
Yung earned a Bachelor of Science from Indiana State University in 1980 and graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1984. He received his residency training at the University of Louisville and joined the department in 1988.
Yung has received many teaching awards during his tenure at the Indiana University that include multiple Trustee's Teaching Awards, two times Outstanding Professor of Clinical Science of The Year award, and twice been voted the Professor-of-The-Year award in Ophthalmology. He is consistently named a “Top Docs” by Indianapolis Monthly since 2000.
