Bio

Dr. Brian Leland?joined the IU School of Medicine faculty in 2016 after completing a Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care medicine. ?Dr Leland is a Physician Ethicist, serves as the Medical Director for Pediatric Ethics at Riley Hospital for Children, and directs the Charles Warren Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics.? Dr. Leland is an Associate?Professor of?Clinical Pediatrics within the division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.? As an Indiana?native committed to serving the needs of his home state, Dr. Leland completed?medical school, Pediatric residency, and Pediatric Critical Care?Fellowship through the Indiana University School of Medicine.? ? 

As a?second-generation physician, Dr. Leland gained an appreciation for the practice of medicine?at an early age, with a particular interest in the care of children.? He was drawn to the field of pediatric critical care where he identified clinical ethics to be an area of significant need.??Implementing his formal training and?interests, Dr. Leland has been responsible for establishing and growing a Pediatric Ethics program?for the Department of Pediatrics and the hospital at large.?
