Bio
Dr. Brock McMillen earned his undergraduate degree from Butler University and completed his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine. Following the completion of his university coursework, he completed his Family Medicine Residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency, where he eventually became faculty. He received additional training in surgical obstetrics, and furthered his development with a fellowship in faculty development at the University of North Carolina.
Dr. McMillen chose Family Medicine because it represents the ideal forum for total patient care. Patients live in families and communities, and for Dr. McMillen, this means that an illness doesn’t simply affect the single patient. As Dr. McMillen works with patients and their families, he is building relationships and trust that assist patients and caregivers in treating illness and disease beyond the hospital or clinical setting. He is invested in preparing them for the next steps, for the future of care that may be required, and ultimately, he wants patient care to matter to the whole family, just as the patient matters to the whole family and community. These tools are second to none in the primary care setting, and Dr. McMillen is interested in knowing exactly how to apply them to provide the best total overall care he can.
His clinical interests include inpatient clinical medicine, surgical obstetrics, underserved and rural medicine, and medical education. Dr. Brock McMillen is dedicated towards the public health of Indiana, to the patients he serves, and to the resident physicians for whom he serves as a mentor and clinical educator. Dr. McMillen wants to ensure continued growth in the field of family medicine in the state of Indiana and also desires to see the specialty maintain high quality standards as we move into the future.
Dr. Brock McMillen currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine for the Indiana University School of Medicine and as the Program Director for the Family Medicine Residency at IU Health Primary Care Central Indianapolis.
