Bio

Dr. Nucharin (Tanya) Supakul, MD is a pediatric neuroradiologist at Riley Children's Hospital and within the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, where she also serves as a director of neuroradiology and pediatric neuroradiology fellowship programs. Dr. Supakul completed her undergraduate degree in Marine Science and medical school at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 2003. Following medical school, Dr. Supakul completed a radiology residency at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, and a four-year fellowship in pediatric, advanced pediatric, neuro and pediatric neuroradiology at IU School of Medicine in 2014. She received the American Board of Radiology (ABR), Certificates of Added Qualification (CAQ) in both Neuroradiology and Pediatric Radiology.  

She clinically works primarily at Riley Hospital for Children as part of the neuroradiology section. Her greatest passion is resident and fellow medical education. Dr. Supakul has created several learning opportunities and curricula for radiology trainees such as a mini-fellowship in neuroradiology, multidisciplinary didactic lecture series in neuroradiology, neuro edutainment lecture series and a quarterly peer learning process. In addition to her role at IU School of Medicine, Dr. Supakul is also the founder and director of the Imaging Academic Outreach Center (iAOC) in collaboration with Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Thailand with the mission to establish a self-sustainable, affordable, lifelong learning, borderless educational center in southeast Asian to support global medical education and promote IU internationally. She has established an online educational platform that attracts thousands of followers around the world. Since 2016, she has been the appointed assistant editor in Chief of the ASEAN Journal of Radiology. Dr. Supakul was the recipient of the 2018 RSNA editorial fellowship and the 2022 IU Virtual Global Learning Fellows Program. With this role, she has been facilitating global learning in a virtual environment and has been a part of a growing IU network and advancing global learning.

Dr. Supakul is academically highly productive with more than 50 abstract presentations, more than 100 invited lectures, and more than 15 course organizations in both national and international meetings. Her research interests are in protocol development, education, non-accidental trauma and brain, and spine tumor.
