Rita Assi, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine
Bio
My research and clinical work is focused on the treatment of leukemia and lymphoma, mostly in the form of targeted therapy, immunotherapy and cellular therapy. I have developed a particular interest in clinical and translational investigation and I have been a collaborator on several published and ongoing clinical trials. Currently, much of my research is focused on understanding the mechanisms behind immunotherapy and how to optimize its efficacy, mostly for the treatment of leukemia, an area of great unmet needs. This includes the identification of new targets for immunotherapy and the development of new drugs to enhance the immune response. Another area of active interest is combining immunotherapy with other treatments, such as chemotherapy, to improve patient outcomes. In terms of cellular therapy, I am interested in developing CAR-T cells for leukemia treatment while integrating new technologies and personalized medicine.
