Bio

Dr. Ying Liu's major research focus is to determine the molecular signaling pathways involved in the cardiac ventricular wall growth, maturation, regeneration, and function in normal and various disease conditions/models using genetic manipulation in the mouse and gene editing technology in hESCs and hiPSCs. Her main research projects are to determine the role of pre-mRNA splice factors in cardiomyocyte sarcomere formation and function as well as their potential link to various cardiomyopathies, and the role of key transcription factor (e.g., Stat3) in regulating beta-adrenergic signaling and voltage gated T-type calcium channel in heart failure and the role of BMP10 in cardiovascular development and cardioprotection
