Bio

Dr. Khalid Youssef is a distinguished biomedical engineer. He obtained his BE from Business & Computer University College in Lebanon and MSEE from Northern Illinois University. Subsequently he obtained his PhD from UCLA in 2015.

He specializes in developing cutting-edge deep learning and explainable AI algorithms to tackle intricate challenges within the realm of medical imaging and bioinformatics. His research aims to overcome the limitations of existing state-of-the-art algorithms, particularly in medical applications where clinical datasets often contain artifacts, such as those caused by breathing motion during an MRI exam.

Throughout his career, Dr. Youssef has made substantial contributions to the field, including developing faster 2nd order optimization algorithms for large-scale datasets, and designing explainable AI models that provide full transparency without sacrificing accuracy.

His work has been successfully applied to a variety of challenging cardiovascular MRI problems, improving diagnostic performance, reducing costs and increasing confidence in the technology by medical professionals.

Due to the broad applicability of his methods, Dr. Youssef's work has also been utilized in numerous other scientific and engineering fields through interdisciplinary collaborations with top experts in academia and industry.
