Bio
Rebecca grew up in West Lafayette, in Purdue country. Her father was an organic chemistry professor there for nearly 45 years. Her parents raised five children who all took off for Bloomington, IN for college. She did her medical school training with the IU School of Medicine Class of 1984 in Indianapolis, where she met her future husband Gustavo Galante, MD, Class of 1985. After finishing her internal medicine internship at IU, she transferred to University of Illinois where she completed her training. Gus and Becca raised three kids in Northwest Indiana, succeeding in sending two of them to IU Bloomington for undergrad and their youngest son to medical school at IU School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
When not practicing internal medicine in Munster, Becca has spent the past 27 years teaching the history and physical diagnosis course at the IU School of Medicine-Northwest-Gary Campus. She has always maintained that this long-time endeavor is to selfishly ensure that her students will pay it forward and take good care of her baby boomer generation!
