Bio
Dr. Abdeljawad completed his medical school degree at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). He finished residency in Internal Medicine at Indiana University (IU), then worked as an academic hospitalist at Eskenazi Hospital through IU. After that, he completed his fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Abdeljawad joined Indiana University’s School of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in August 2017, with interest in general gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and microscopic colitis, with a mission to provide excellent services in those fields to the underserved population at Eskenazi Hospital and rural Indiana. He also provides endoscopic services at the Douglas Rex Endoscopy Suite (DRES) in Spring Mill Surgery Center, Carmel, Indiana.
Dr. Abdeljawad is heavily invested in teaching trainees the bread and butter of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and endoscopy skills from their day 1 until they graduate and become sharp gastroenterologists.
