Bio
Dr. Jimmy Carlucci is an Assistant Professor and Associate Medical Director in the Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Global Health at Indiana University School of Medicine. He has been engaged in HIV-related clinical care, research, and capacity building in Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Zambia for more than 15 years. He received his MD and MPH degrees from Vanderbilt University, and he has also served as a Global Health Corps physician with the Baylor International Pediatrics AIDS Initiative (BIPAI). Dr Carlucci’s research is generally focused on improving maternal-child HIV health services implementation in resource-constrained settings. In particular, he is currently leading an NIH K23 funded project utilizing human-centered design to enhance peer support (mentor mother) strategies aimed at prevention of vertical transmission of HIV within Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) supported clinics in western Kenya. He is also actively engaged in International epidemiology Databases to Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA) consortium studies investigating topics ranging from antiretroviral pharmacovigilance among pregnant women living HIV, post-natal prophylaxis for infants with HIV exposure, and long-term diagnostic, care engagement, and clinical outcomes for HIV-affected mother-infant dyads.
