The Chirgwin laboratory offers novel molecular approaches to studying in vivo phenomena of bone metastases ex vivo, including development of novel alternatives to animal models and application of new biochemical markers to replace in vivo imagining. A strong research training environment will be provided by collaborations with more junior investigators, such as Drs. Bellido and Roodman. Dr. Chirgwin has trained graduate students (Siclari & Dunn) and postdocs (Fournier & Juarez) in conjunction with Dr. Theresa Guise & Khalid Mohammad.
Osteoclast-derived IGF1 is required for pagetic lesion formation in vivo.
