Bio

Dr. Kyle Webster DO, PhD is an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Webster completed his doctoral degree in biochemistry at Loyola University Chicago and then completed his medical school training at Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his general psychiatry residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, and after residency, Dr. Webster attended the University of Michigan where he completed his fellowship training in forensic psychiatry. 
 
Dr. Webster is a forensic psychiatrist and consulting forensic examiner who works at The Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Michigan. His work focuses on conducting competency to stand trial evaluations, criminal responsibility evaluations, and risk assessments. Dr. Webster's clinical work focuses on treating individuals with severe mental illness at the state hospital level who are enmeshed within the criminal justice system for purposes of restoration of competency to stand trial and individuals adjudicated not guilty by reason of insanity that require psychiatric treatment. Dr. Webster's research and academic interests include first episode and early phase psychosis, stalkers and stalking behaviors, arson/fire setting, and risk and threat assessments.  Dr. Webster is also an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan Medicine where he trains medical students, residents, and fellows in the field of forensic psychiatry.
 
Dr. Webster was the recipient of the Rappeport Fellowship and the Douglas Mossman Research Award through the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL). Dr. Webster is also one of the current chairs of the AAPL Research Committee. His most recent publications have centered around early phase psychosis and involvement within the criminal justice system. Dr. Webster has presented at the local, state, and national levels on topics ranging from early phase psychosis and the criminal justice system, firesetting behaviors and arson, and stalking behaviors.
