After finishing her undergraduate and medical degrees in Philadelphia and residency in Pittsburgh, she completed a fellowship in abdominal cross-sectional imaging at the University of Michigan, joined the faculty at UM, and completed a master’s degree in clinical research and statistical design. She served as division director of the UM emergency radiology division for a decade before joining the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at IU School of Medicine in 2019. She has been awarded several research grants, and has over 40 peer-reviewed publications, five book chapters, multiple invited reviews, and more than 80 educational exhibits presented to national meetings. She has won numerous awards for teaching and educational presentations and has given over 90 national and international lectures.
Dr. Chong serves as the emergency radiology division representative to the IU School of Medicine Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences' Quality and Safety Committee. She is a deputy editor for the Academic Radiology journal and a manuscript reviewer for several radiology journals. She serves on the executive committee for the American Society of Emergency Radiology and chairs the emergency radiology committee in the American College of Radiology. She was inducted as a Fellow for the American Society for Emergency Radiology in 2018.
