Bio

David Scofield, MD, is a graduate of the the Indiana University School of Medicine. He spent his first year in a preliminary medicine program at Ascension St. Vincent in Indianapolis, IN, before joining the psychiatry residency at IU. Now in his fourth year of residency, Dr. Scofield is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) Fellow.

Why CAP at IU?

During my residency I got to work with many of the child and adolescent physician faculty at IU. And I loved it! There is such a great depth of knowledge and experience within child and adolescent psychiatry at IU. The supervision, encouragement and teaching was incredible. IU is also one of the largest allopathic medical schools in the nation, and the largest academic medical center in the state, so there are lots of complex cases that provide great training.

Career Interests:

I like the full range of topics in child psychiatry, but I’m particularly interested in neurodevelopmental disorders, substance use, mood disorders, psychotherapy, student teaching and consultation-liaison care. I plan to work in an academic setting at the end of fellowship.

In my sparetime:

I like to read anything: books, magazines, pamphlets, newspapers, flyers. I also spend a lot of time goofing around outdoors. Indianapolis is beautiful!
