Bio

Dr. Holmes joined IU in 2017 after completing residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at the University of North Carolina.  At IU she serves as the Program Director for the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship and the Associate Program Director of the Fairbanks Fellowship in Clinical Ethics. 

From 2018-2023 Dr. Holmes was the medical director of a multi-site collaborative care program serving the mental health needs of patients in primary care clinics.  In 2023 she was awarded an IU Health Values grant to study racial disparities in against medical advice discharges, and she also serves as a consulting psychiatrist on a PCORI grant to study treatment of anxiety among patients who present to the emergency department with low risk chest pain.  Her clinical and research interests include the convergence of psychiatric symptoms and medical illness, clinical ethics, against medical advice discharge, and decision-making capacity.
